1950s Cropped Bolero: The Attic
Dress: Pinup Girl Clothing
Shoes: Mel by Melissa
Hi loves, my name is Velvet. I’m a twenty something
Mississippi transplant, currently alternating between my college of Mississippi
State University and Memphis, Tennessee. I am a Biochemistry undergraduate,
concentrating on Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I hope to help furry babies, along with the scaled and the feathered cuties.
My style is vintage, mainly inspired by the 1950s, with a
side of modern and manageable glamour. I feel like my
style is very Betty Draper (Mad Men) mix of Dita Von Teese. I have a love for vintage lingerie and therefore occasionally like
to wear my underneaths (mainly bras) as outerwear as some pieces are too pretty
to be hidden. Despite a nod to the
Golden age and classic eras, I do enjoy pop culture. You might see influences from
mainstream-relevant music artists and modern designers incorporated but still
have a relevance to my vintage style. As a college student, I've learned how to be more creative but budget friendly by mixing department store pieces with vintage and repro. I'm hoping to be able to share my tips.
Outside of school, I am a frequent animal shelter volunteer and a Editor of Pinups of Colour and a contributor to Onyx Vintage Magazine, providing my knowledge of women of color glamour girls from the past and present. I enjoy reading history and science based books, burlesque, vintage lingerie, sewing, wines and spending time with my furry companion, Dashian Dalton. I'm often found in the library, museums or art galleries. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at missvelvetwren@gmail.com. Nice to meet you!
